In March fly fishing
guides from Callaway
Gardens attended the
first of three “Campout”
events for the soldiers
and their families at Ft.
Benning, GA.  Leading
the way was Carl
Warmouth. His faithful
comment was, “We will
be there no matter the
weather”.  Unfortunately,
he was right. It was the
same day that a tornado
struck Atlanta.  Fending
off the high winds
everybody enjoyed the
free casting and fly tying
demonstrations and look
forward to the April 26
Campout.
On April 15th volunteers
from Fly Fishing for Vets
joined over 50 Ft. Benning
families for this year’s first
“Family Fishing Night”
event. Joining Ken Griffin
was Cornell Feldesman of
CJ Fly Fishing, and Aaron
Hyte, President of the
Atlanta Fly fishing Club
(see our sponsors page for
the club link).  Needless to
say everyone had a great
time, especially the kids, or
was it the mom’s who didn’
t have to bait the hooks.
NEWS LINKS:
At the end of July and several soldiers from Ft. Benning's Wounded Transition Battalion enjoyed fly fishing at Callaway Gardens
famous lakes. Never having use a fly rod before they were hesitant about their ability to cast. Their fears were soon put to rest by fly
fishing guides and Federation of Fly Fishers casting instructors Kent Edmonds and Paul Hudson.  Each soldier left that day not only
with their own fly rod/reel combo and memories they will share with their buddies, but more importantly memories they will keep
forever.
Fly Fishing for Vets can only do this with your generous donations.  So we hope you will keep supporting this program so we can
keep introducing our wounded hero’s to the world of fly fishing.

GEORGIA FISHING FOR VETS DAY WAS A TOTAL SUCCESS.  THERE WERE OVER 90 VOLUNTEERS AND REPRESENTATIVES FROM
THE MAJOR OUTFITTERS AND GUIDES SERVICES.  THE GEORGIA NATIONAL GUARD PROVIDED TENTS AND HEATERS TO KEEP
EVERYONE WARM WHILE THEY FEASTED ON THE BEST BBQ IN THE SOUTH.
We have two set of pictures for you to look at.  The first below in RED is a panoramic view of that day. Once you're at the site click on the view
“large button”.   The second, in yellow, has lots of pictures from that day.  I hope you see yourself or someone you know.

Here's a panoramic view of the 1st GFFVD.

This great rod was hand made by Mike Popick.  Notice the
